Historic Downtown Chandler
Downtown Chandler was designed by its founder, Dr. A. J. Chandler, when he laid out the town in 1912. The iconic San Marcos Hotel, built in 1913 in Mission Revival style, anchored the downtown square and helped define Chandler’s early character. The downtown business district includes a historic commercial district with buildings laid out around the park, many reflecting early 20th-century architecture. The downtown area today is a vibrant, walkable destination with shops, galleries, restaurants, arts venues, and public spaces, while maintaining its historic charm.
